Aylesbury residents were given free social media training this weekend aimed at taking the fear factor away from going online.

The event, on Saturday 1 October, was held at 1st Place Children and Families Centre near Burgess Park.

Visitors enjoyed fun and interactive activities showing how social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram can better connect them to their community and the outside world.

They also heard from a Notting Hill Housing resident who explained how she uses Facebook to bring her community together, connect with her neighbours and highlight events.

Following the course, one Aylesbury resident said: “This course has opened my eyes about how best to use the internet. I now understand what my children are talking about,” while another added: “It was good to get to know each other and to meet Notting Hill staff.”

Our next free course will be in November, focussing on how to cook low-cost, healthy, tasty meals – just in time for the festive season.

To find out more about Notting Hill Housing’s courses, and other events, please contact Lorraine Gilbert (Resident Involvement Manager) on 020 3815 0144.
