Young Aylesbury residents have been getting creative to celebrate the new library, which is being built on Plot 18, part of the Aylesbury regeneration.

20 children were asked what libraries meant to them and the responses they gave were all really positive and clearly showed their excitement about a new one being built on their doorsteps.

The young people then brought their ideas to life, first by sketching them and then scaling up their drawings onto boards using spray-paint. James and Mark from Aero Arts, who we have worked with for a number of years, were on hand to help them with this task.

The project was also supported by Vistry Partnerships, who are the building contractors on Plot 18.

One parent said: “Thanks so much for the opportunity the kids had at the spray-painting session. They can't stop talking about it. They absolutely loved it. They are so proud and can't wait to see it.”

The artwork has now been installed onto the hoarding of Plot 18 on Dawes Street so please go and have a look if you are able to do so. You can also view the gallery of photos from the day here.

The library is expected to be completed in 2022.
