Our intergenerational Summer Programme is always the highlight of our year!
Our intergenerational Summer Programme is always the highlight of our year – three weeks of fun for all ages. And this year was no exception!
Over 140 people from the local community joined us for 32 sessions made up of 11 different activities – an incredible 654 attendances in total! The most popular sessions this year were spray painting, jewellery making and fashion design. We are still picking the glitter out of our hair!
One young person summed up their experience saying “It was an absolutely amazing experience. I have made so many friends!”
We had a mixed bag of weather so we were really grateful for the pergola which was funded by Southwark Council’s Cleaner, Greener, Safer grant. This helped to keep both the heat and the rain away throughout the month!
Spoken Word performance poetry was made possible thanks to a successful Aylesbury Community Grant application from Camberwell Fair. Meanwhile, photography lessons were provided by London College of Communication, flower arranging from the Latin American Multicultural Group, and Draw, Paint and Create sessions by a young local artist, Fernene Pacquette.
Fernene said “It’s great to see the young people so engaged and charismatic! It’s been an enjoyable and invaluable experience working with Notting Hill Genesis.”
Thank you to everyone who came along or was involved in any way. We hope you had as much fun as we did! A selection of photographs is available to view at www.aylesburynow.london/summer2018.
